Happy Birthday David!!!

Today is David's birthday! He is 30 years old!!!! That is OLD! (I shouldn't say that though, because 30 is my next birthday too!) I feel bad because I just remembered it last night! Our calander is packed up and I feel out of it without looking at it everyday. We took him lunch and balloons while he was at work today, though. I'm so lucky that he is my husband. He is so wonderful to me and the kids. We have so much fun together. He is the best! Happy Birthday David!

Moving

So, I have no pictures of the ciaos, because my camera is packed (along with everything else). But we are moving. We have to be out of our house on Friday, and we are buying a house that hasn't closed yet. We are praying it will close on Friday, or even Monday. I I think we are going to stay in a hotel this weekend, and bum off of some good friends in our ward. We have had 5 people offer their house to us while we wait for our house to close. Don't we have the best ward ever??? I think we do! Anyway, pray for us that we will not be homeless for too long. :)

We took Kennedy and some friends to Fuddruckers and then we rode the ferris wheel at Scheels. (That made me so sick. I used to be a little daredevil, but now everything makes me scared and sick. I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old :(

Kennedy is now 2 years old! She is a beautiful little firecracker of fun! She is always making us laugh with her clever dance moves, her way of explaining things with her hand flips and head gestures, and the way she copies, pretty much everything Alex does! We love our little Kennedy and we are blessed that she is in our family!

Treasure Hunt/ Spook the kids, fun for the parents

We had a treasure hunt for the kids one night. We had my mother-in-law, Joyce, tell the kids a story about some lost treasure and she warned them about bears and the bear poop that uncle Howard had found in the woods behind the cabin. We told them what to do if they ran into a bear. So, needless the say the kids had bears in their head. One stop of the treasure hunt included getting pelted by water balloons as they tried to pass, which I thought was the funniest thing I had ever thought of. And it proved to be a great memory, but the one the takes the cake was when Howard hid in the trees covered with a brown blanket and emerged growling. The kids took off faster than I thought possible and continued to run even though we were busting a gut. The look on little Preston's face was something that I will never forget.

Our family reunion was sooo much fun. It made me really miss having my sisters-in-law living close to me. Good times!

Truckee Parade

What's the Fourth of July without an awesome parade? Well, this one was less than desirable. We were all prepared with the 20 Wall-Mart sacks we brought, hoping for the best. The poor kids probably took home 4 pieces of candy each. They have been taught very well by my 2 cute sister-in laws, and myself, "the art of obtaining optimal candy surplus at a parade event". We yell at every car that goes by. We yell a flattering sentence to them using their company name or slogan, and that puts us in favor of the sympathy candy throw-out. Well something went amiss. We haven't figured out went exactly wen wrong. It could be the plunging economy, it could be just a simple candy shortage, I mean, who knows??? Do you see Sponge Bob on the picture? Well, I still laugh thinking about it. Everyone was so excited to see Sponge Bob Square Pants coming toward us. Little Preston's eyes lit up with excitement. He rushed up to him and was nearly BOWLED over by this 2nd rate impostor. Little Preston shocked and sad eyes were immediate as he rushed to the comfort of his mother, cute Sara, who was laughing the same as I. Ahhh, good times....

Lake Tahoe

We spent one day on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. We had sooo much fun! The kids swam and dug and buried. David and our nephews Rhett and Cole swam out far, crawdad hunting. Me and Kennedy hung out digging and strolling down the shore, and then digging some more. She had a blast! We named our pet crawdad, Mr. Crab, which name I made up, which all the kids thought was hilarious... (I'm pretty proud of myself, as you can see). No Howard... put Mr. Crab down!!!

Squaw Valley

We played at Squaw Valley one day. It was soooo amazingly beautiful!!! The cable car ride up to the top was super scary, but the view just took your breath away. We swam at the top and even hiked around a little bit. -- Yes Alex, of course that snow looks drinkable! :) I love the kids' faces in our family picture! Priceless!!!

Fun at the park

We took the kids to Rancho San Rafael on Saturday. That happens to be the most beautiful park I have ever seen. We stayed on the garden side of the park. The kids had such a great time. It was so fun exploring the gardens. Alex and Kennedy were on the lookout for bunny rabbits. They tracked several of them down. Kennedy didn't quite know why they wouldn't let her pet them. My mom tried, in vain, to take some great pictures of the kids. She found out quickly that it was an impossible task. But, the picture of the kids at the top was a lucky shot!

Alex's New Bike

My parents got Alex a new bike for his birthday. He loves it! He wants to practice all the time! He picked out a cool blue and neon green Hot Wheels bike. He looks very cool riding around the street. Go Alex!

Alex's Birthday Party

Alex's Birthday Party was yesterday. It was quite the event. We had a lot of kids and a lot of fun! Alex kept saying "That was such a fun party mom!" I had to agree with that statement. My friends Julie, Yojana, and Kendall were all here helping with everything! I love them! Then when the kids left, the adults had just as much fun on the bounce house as the kids did! Julie and I were showing each other the cool tricks we could do, and I (with my mind fully thinking and aware) did a handstand with a forward flip at the end. My head was going to explode! I used to be able to roll and such, but now my head gets sooo sick! I guess I'm just too old to be flipping! Then later on last night, my girlfriends and I went to see "17 Again"with Zac Efron. We liked it very well!

Today is Alex's Birthday!!! He is 4 years old! I can't believe how big he is getting! He got a Nintendo DSi . He was so excited. David was as well... he said it was a present for the whole family (which really means David and Alex). He is having his party on Saturday. We are having a bounce house, it will be lots of fun! My brave little soldier

Today Alex had to have another Renal Scan. This is the 4th one he's had. But I have to admit that this one was ALOT easier than the others because he didn't have to have a cathader inserted this time. The cathader is, by far, the worst part of the test. I pleaded with the techs today, and they told me that I would just have to help him hold it for as long as possible. Well, they had to pause the test twice because he had to go. He was a brave trooper. He didn't cry at all, except when the lady was pulling him out of the machine, she didn't she his finger in the way and it got pinched pretty bad. The picture above is his kidneyand his bladder below. As you can see, his right one emptied very quickly and the left one was very slow and stubborn. He was under the x-ray machine for 90 minutes, and the left one never fully empied. We are so grateful that he has one kidney that is working great and that he has never had an infection. Go Alex!

Children's Museum visit

Today David is working overtime (14 hours! poor David) so I took the kids to the Children's Museum in Carson City. It's definately was not as good as the other Children's Museums I have been to before, but it was still fun. Alex and Kennedy had a great time going around to each of the stations. Kennedy's favorite was the Smith's store and kitchen. She pushed that cart around with such determination. Alex loved the police station where he liked to put me in jail. That is Alex in the jail with his sad face on. That is also the kids dressed up as a cowboy and Indian. They also had a Keno outfit, which I thought was pretty funny... only in Nevada I guess.

Easter Time

We had such a great Easter this year. The kids were so excited. Alex wanted to practice hidding and finding the eggs over and over again. We had a fun ward egg hunt and breakfast and a great community hunt. The kids loved it! Kennedy thought that she died and went to heaven with all the candy she could grab. That is Kennedy with her new pom-poms, and yes, David got me the Sham-Wow system for Easter! Now we have both the Snuggie and Sham-Wows... Yes! Now I just need the Bump-Its (a hair-boosting product) because I love me some big hair!

Church Ball

Last night was our ward's Church Ball Tournament. David did soooo well! I was very impressed with his skills! Here are some pictures of David in all his glory. He is even wearing new basketball shorts and shoes. As you can see in the pictures, David had no problem at all pushing the other team around... and even to the ground! He had this signature move in which he would jump up to make a basket and he arched his back and curlded his legs behind him! It was very entertaining. His team got all the way to the final game, but lost by one point. David informed me that they cheated! The bottom team is our bishopric's. Great Job guys!!!

We had such a great time!-- I even made the comment that they should do this more often!

Two Cheese Heads

Ever since Alex was little, he has always "cheesed" up his photos. Now, Kennedy is doing the same thing. As soon as the camera is pulled out, she gives her most winning smile. This picture was taken while my mom was down from St. George. It was so nice to have her come down. My dad even came down for 2 days. The kids had a blast and David and I were even able to stay at the Peppermill one night. We had a great time. We miss you already mom and dad!

Broken Nose?

Last week, I was pulled out of my gym class and told that Alex and hurt his nose pretty bad. This picture was taken 2 days later, but it was blue and the bruise gradually moved closer to his eye. Alex said that he fell "on the chair" and hit his nose. He acted very tough about the whole thing. The same day, my friend came to my front door and Alex ran out to see who was there. When he turn back to go into the house, he ran right into the door handle and hit his forehead very hard. This has to be such a clumsy age. Hopefully he grows out of it soon, people will start to think that I beat my child!

BIG GIRL

Just a quick side note: Kennedy went poop in the potty this morning!!!! She was so close yesterday, but ended up pooping on the floor instead. Today was the REAL DEAL!! The funny thing is after she pooped, she got up to look at it, and she was scared! I started clapping and high-fiving and then she started to smile and act happy. She is such a funny little girl.

So I have been the WORST blogger ever lately! I blame it all on my laziness, and the fact that I have not taken any pictures recently. Are you wondering what the Sorensen crew has been up to lately? Well, we have been TRYING to buy a home. We have put in 3 offers, all to find out that someone else put in a higher offer, and so as David put it, we are a day late and a dollar short! Is this a sign that we should not be buying right now? I have no idea... I guess I have to keep praying until I get an answer. We took the kids sledding yesterday (I can't believe I forgot my camara!). We drove up to Tahoe and found a good sledding place. Kennedy was not happy about having to put all of those big clothes on. She cried if I put her down, so I had to carry her the whole time! Can I tell you how difficult it is to carry her and trudge uphill in the deep snow??? I was dying. Kennedy and I were sledding partners and Alex and David were partners. Alex was by far the better patner than Kennedy. He was having a blast the whole time. Kennedy was in a foul mood and did not want to sled, but I made her anyway. She was silent the whole time and when we were done I'd say "Wahoo! That was so fun! Do you want to go again?" And She'd shake her head NO! Alex was going down the hill by himself on his belly head first, laughing and yelling. He was so fun to watch! I think sledding would be so much more fun if they had a little ski lift for us. Why don't they do that??? Tonight we are having our ward group date night. I always look forward to these. We have such a fun ward. Anyway, I gotta get ready for the gym now... I'll try to be better at posting from now on!

So I haven't been the best blogger lately and I really don't have an excuse beside I really haven't felt like doing it. We are just hangin' out practicing our moves. I really don't know what that means exactly but, that reminds me that Kennedy is going to be our little dancer. When I have my music on, she starts moving her one shoulder, which looks like a twitch except for the fact that it is in tune with the music. She even does it in her car seat! She's just just chillin. I'm going to train her to be a little hip hopper. Any way, I'm actually really excited that I found my old roomates blogs!!! They were my best friends ever!!! We had the craziest times together. They are the funnest and cutest girls I know. Maybe one of these days we'll get together. I feel bad that we lost touch. I love you guys!

This is our "very unfancy" Thanksgiving dinner. Alex loved the wishbone and buried and unburied it a million times with the help of Grandma. We had such a fun time with David's parents and Katie. Alex and Kennedy loved to have Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Katie, and Benji for 4 whole days! We are sure glad they were able to come down and visit us!

Our trip to Virgina City

While David's parents and Katie were down for Thanksgiving, we to a little trip to Virgina City. We had a blast. My favorite part was walking through the old cemetary. I know, I am a little morbid, but it was so interesting to see all of these YOUNG people from all over the world buried from this interesting time period.

Twilight Movie Review

My friend Kendall and I went to see Twilight last night. I heard that it was a low budget movie and the acting wasn't the greatest, so I purposely went expecting nothing. (I usually do this anyway). I actually LOVED it! I thought it was great! I know that it was low budget, you can tell, but I thought they stuck to the book pretty darn well. They couldn't explain everything as well as in the book, obviously. I was very aprehensive about the "Edward" they chose. I really didn't think he looked like my Edward, but as they movie progressed, both Kendall and I were drooling a little. So ladies, just give him a chance. I was euphorically happy the entire movie (just as I was while reading the book). The only bad thing I have to say is that I will have such a hard time waiting for the rest of the movies to come out! I wish that they would film them closer together so we don't have to wait such a long time. I heard that a big producer, like Paramount, declined doing Twilight, so it went to a lower budgeted company. I bet they feel stupid now. I hope they have more money for the next ones!

Trick or Treating

Trick or Treating was so fun this year. Alex was the pro, teaching Kennedy how it is done. Kennedy would go up to the door with Alex and when Alex got something in his bucket, Kennedy always turned to leave too. She didn't quite understand what we were doing. David and I were laughing because of the way little Kennedy was toddling around, barely going anywhere in her big puffy costume holding onto her bucket, just following her big brother. After a little while she noticed the suckers in her bucket and imediately had to have one before she continued any further. Alex would knock on the door and yell "Trick or Treat!" before anyone came to the door, and if they weren't there within 20 seconds he would say, "I don't think they are home". I think that Alex actually had as much fun answering our door and passing out the candy at our house. He would run to the door yelling "Here we come!" And he would tell the kids "Have a nice day." He is very polite. Then he would come back to the couch and tell me what costumes they were wearing while we were watched Ghost Hunters Live. David rigged up our strobe light, fog machine and he had scary music playing in our entry way. It was a great Halloween!

Halloween Party at School

This was Alex's Halloween party at his school. There were some really great costumes. Mr. Incredible is Alex's best bud Kai. The lady in the penguin costume is Alex's teacher, Mrs. Howard. She is fantastic with the kids. Alex actually LIKES to practice his letters now!!! He didn't want anything to do with that before. Yea for school!

My family has had some sad news. My cousin Matt's, whom I'm very close with, little boy Henry's had to be life-flighted to Primary Children's Hospital a couple of days ago. Henry's red blood cells were being torn apart by his own vascular system. It was triggered by a toxin released from the pneunomia bacteria, the rare disease is known as HUS. HUS or Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome is a serious problem that is usually produced from the e-coli bacteria, but Henry has been diagnosed with the rare P-HUS.The main problem is kidney failure. Henry's kidneys have stopped working because they are swollen and the broken blood cells plug them up. Henry is in critical, but stable, condition. Matt and Alisa are such strong people. Please keep Henry in your prays. Miracles do happen.

I have not blogged for a while. I have been working on Super Saturday stuff for a few months now, but the moment finally came yesterday. For the past 2 weeks I have been cutting vinyl like a mad women. The counselor in the relief society presidency who helps me with enrichment, was sooooo awsome. She ran around and bought all of the supplies. There is no way I could have done it without her. She has a daughter Alex's age, and they get along really well. So everytime she came over, our kids played together. I'm just really greatful it's all over. I feel like a big weight is off my back. I had someone tell me that next month we should do another craft day with all Christmas stuff! I was like, "no, maybe next year". I don't think people realize that I have been working on this since the summer! But, it turned out fabulous, and I feel like I could sleep all day.

First Day of School

So this week, Alex started preschool. I have been looking forward to this for a LONG time, but the day before his school started I was feeling a little scared. I have no idea why, because he has been asking to go to school for a while now. The first day, the parents could stay the whole time. I was planning on it, but Alex was fine. He was having a great time. The next day, when I dropped him off he said "you can leave now mom." He is very independent. I guess that is a good thing.

So You Think You Can Dance

So last night, David and I went to the So You Think You Can Dance Tour. It was a blast! We had great seats. We got to see everyone right up close. There were people there with posters and everything. I told David that next time, we are going to make a poster and bring it! David told me that I was a nerd. My favorite dancer to watch was Courtney, even thought I think that Katie is the best girl. I also really like Chelsea when she dances latin, but in the group dances, she is the weakest. David really likes Twitch. He is definately cool. They totally played up Gev liking Courtney, and she kept saying, "I already told you that I have a boyfriend." We all went "OHHHHH". Anyway, it was tons of fun and my wonderful husband was such a good sport to go with me. I'm trying to get him to take a salsa class with me. That might take a little bit more convincing!

San Fransisco

"If you're going to San Fransisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair." That was definately the theme to our San Fransisco trip. We went with our friends, Eric, Nicole and their baby Alexis. David and Eric litterally thought that every guy that lives in this city is gay. It was kind-of funny. Our friend Jason sings that song in his "male-femmine" voice, and it is hillarious! Anyways, we had a good time. David and Eric were going to go to a San Jose Sharks game, but had the dates messed up. We are going to go again though!

Alcatraz Island

Disneyland Trip!

We just got home from Disneyland! We had such a fun time. On Monday and Tuesday David's parents were able to come with us and then on Wed, Thur, and Fri my parents and Haley and Jeff came with us. It was the perfect time to go. We had NO lines. The longest wait we had was the new Toy Story ride and that was still only 20 minutes. We were able to see everything almost in a day. It was the best time! Alex is a little daredevil. He went on Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, the Mattahorn, Big Thunder etc.. Anything he could meet the height requirement, he went on... with the exception of the Tower of Terror, which he wanted to go on, but I thought that would freak him out. So yes, that is Alex with pom-poms in the first picture. Our photographer had them there, and Alex couldn't resist.

Dog Sitting

So this weekend we are dog sitting our friend's Chow. His name is Bear and he is such a great dog. The kids LOVE him! Alex actually DIDN'T want to go to the gym today because he wanted to stay home and play with bear. (I was like... "too bad, we're still going") He plays with him constantly. They are really good buds. Kennedy just adores him and follows him around everywhere. David is not sold on Bear. He is getting testy because he keeps coming in the house and his hair is getting everywhere. I love him because he keeps the kids entertained and Alex hasn't said "I'm bored" once today! It's a miracle!!! I want to get a dog for the kids... I just have to talk David into it.

Holy cow--- it's an owl!

We just drove up to our house and there is this huge owl hanging out on our ledge! I have really never seen an owl up close. I thought they lived in the forest or something. He is quite scarey up close. He was staring us down blinking his huge eyes with his huge claws. I thought he was going to swoop down and either attacks us or drop us a note. I know it's a little lame that I'm affraid of an owl, but if you would have seen him, you would be affraid too!

These are the pictures taken at our reunion a couple of months ago. It was impossible to get everyone looking at the camera at the same time, and without squinting at the sun. The top picture was one of the 2 taken that our kids were looking at the camera. Of course they weren't looking at the camera for our individual family pictures... I guess we can't expect a miracle!

Lake Tahoe

We went to Lake Tahoe on Friday. Alex always has so much fun. He grabs onto David's shoulders and David swims around with him on his back. He doesn't seem to mind the cold water. Kennedy, on the other hand, cried every time the water hit her feet. I don't blame her though, the water is ALWAYS icy cold. But, Kennedy did love to dig around in the sand. That kept her busy the whole time.

O.K., so I just finished the latest book in the Twillight series... I can't remember what it's called though... Breaking Dawn? or something like that. Anyways... it was FABULOUS!!!! It was my favorite! It is the last one though... but it ended so good and made me feel so happy! I goosebumps thinking about it. Isn't that stupid? But it was great. I just had to share that with you!

I am a few days late, but Happy Birthday David! I am so lucky to have David for a husband and Alex and Kennedy are so lucky to have him for a dad. He is such a great person and I'm so glad that I married my best friend. We love you David!

SO GUESS WHAT?!! David is a licensed pharmacist!!! We just found out that he passed all of his boards and he is completely done with all of this stupid studying!!! Yea!!! Congrats David, we are so proud of you!

This is Alex having a ball in our kiddie pool that we have in the backyard. Kennedy, one the other hand, would cry everytime Alex splashed her, which was every second. So, after laughing about it for a while, we had some sympathy and got her out of the pool.

So, I am not winning any awards for my blogging. It took me a couple of weeks to finally put Kennedy's birthday pictures up. Poor little Kennedy. She is such a sweet girl, and as a result gets a little neglected. She is a walking machine and loves to investigate everything she can reach and get into. She loves Alex and is so happy that she can finally follow Alex around and copy what he does. We are so blessed to have Kennedy in our family.

These are some pictures of us floating down the river. We had a blast, and we even saw 2 moose! The picture of the 2 kyaks ( I know that is not spelled right, I can't even think of how it is spelled... I hate when that happens!) is David, Rileigh, and Rhett on one and Andy, Cole and Darby on the other. They collided here and we had a great time heckling them as a result! How nice of us.

Alex- The Deer Whisperer

This was definately the coolest thing that happened while we camped. A deer approached David while we were cleaning up our food. He wanted him to feed him. We got Alex out of the car and he feed him the rest of our graham crackers. The deer was so tame. It was really wild!

Camping Fun

So we decided to take our family for the first time camping. Yea! We were so excited. We had visions of grandour. Well, it was not what we had imagined it to be. Kennedy is walking (well, walking across anything that she can grab onto), and she does not like to be carried around like Alex used to. She wanted to get down, and there was really nothing for her to hold onto. She kept picking up things in the ground and getting filthy. Alex was whinning about going fishing but his rod was broken. There was just ALOT of crying and whinning. We were going insane! I was like a weird-o mom who was whipping the kids face and hands with baby wipes every 2 minutes. We got up at 5:30 am-- thanks Kennedy, and we were freezing! We were like "what should we do now?" We decided to just call it a day and packed up our stuff. Enough Family Fun for one day!

Alex turned 3 years old. We celebrated his birthday while we were in Pocatello. He had a pirate birthday with a Power Ranger cake. And of course, no birthday party is complete without a pinata. I can't believe he's 3 already. He is such a great kid and we love him so much!

Buzz Lightyear of Star Command

Today we went to the mall and the Disney store was having a 40% off of the clearance rack. Low and behold, there was a covented size 2/3 Buzz Lightyear costume. As you can see, Alex was thrilled, and wore it the rest of the night. It is a pleather fabric, very slippery. He was slidding at ultrasonic speed down the stairs. When we had to take it off for the night, the poor thing was wet with sweat. What a fun day!

We went to dinner with the characters. It was a buffet called Goofy's Kitchen. That was my favorite part of the trip. Alex LOVES the characters. He could care less about mom and dad trying to get a good picture with him, he just wanted to hug and love. One part of the dinner, Goofy comes out and dances with the kids. EVERYONE was dancing EXCEPT Alex. Alex kept himself attached to Goofy's leg the entire time.

Disneyland Vacation!!!

We had such a great time on our vacation. Both of the kids were fabulous! Last time we went to Disneyland, Kennedy was a newborn baby and Alex was going through such a horrible terrible 2 stage. Kennedy was easy and Alex was a nightmare. He didn't understand waiting in lines and we had a few embarrising tantrums. This time, I was worried about Kennedy. She is a girl to the core. She is a scaredy cat and pretty damanding. Well, she loved the rides. She would stand and clap her hands. She got very excited with each ride. The only ride she was scared enough to shake, was the farris wheel in Califoria. But, that was dang scarey! Alex was superb this time. He was very good waiting the the lines and listening. We didn't have one tantrum! I was so proud of him. He has grown up to be such a great kid. His face in the middle picture was his face on all of the rides. He is a little daredevil. He was barely tall enough to ride Splash Mountain and he LOVED it! He wanted to go again and again! I can't wait until he is tall enough to do more of the scarey rides.

We are so proud of David! He has worked so hard on this paper/presentation (which is why I didn't have access to our computor for a while) and he did an awsome job on it!!! His preceptor liked his the best! He was more stressed for the past couple of weeks than I have ever seen him. We were so worried about him, but our prayers were answered and he is a star!!!
